®NOVA Festival is a multidimensional art festival, which brings to the forefront of the contemporary audiovisual  arts. The festival is a live construction site, which combines visual art, experimental, contemporary techniques, technological resources. The idea came from ROJO®, founded 11 years ago in Barcelona by David Quiles Guilló, director and curator of the exhibition, whose previous editions have been through São Paulo, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro. This year it is going to open in few days, just the next 6th April in Sao Paulo at MIS "Museu da Imagem e do Som"  supported by SESC Pompéia. It will feature the work of over 100 guest artists!

Triangulation Blog is supporting the ®NOVA Festival as online media partner and I really want to dedicate a post to this great event created because of the enthusiasm of David Quiles Guilló. Many of the artists participating on this festival have already been featured here,  I feel there is a really good connection with ®NOVA. YOSHI SODEOKA · SPECIAL POST

"Violet Dark Spring of the Numinous Orb" (2011)

I'm so pleased to announce the following interview of the great japanese New York based artist Yoshi Sodeoka. I'm a big fan of his mesmerizing audiovisual carrier and interested on all around it, today he tells us everything about this trajectory, including details which he had never told before. As a exclusivity, Yoshi presents here at Triangulation as a first time online one of his new pieces called "Violet Dark of Spring of the Numinous Orb". 

Sodeoka’s psychedelic video, sound art and prints  are a dystopian clash of noise and beatitude. His projects have been shown all over the world, from London’s Tate Britain, New York City’s Deitch Projects, Paris’ Festival Némo, Edinburgh’s MU, São Paulo’s Rojo Nova, Barcelona’s OFFF, Baltimore Museum of Art, London’s OneDotZero, Barcelona’s Sonar Festival, Haifa Museum Israel, Berlin’s Transmediale, Poland’s Krakow Film Festival. Scott Draves · SPECIAL POST

First of all I want to thank two incredible people who made possible this amazing Special Post, the well known software artist Scott Draves and as interviewer Phoenix Perry who is curator of Devotion Gallery and a new media artist and performer.

So in the interview you can read almost everything about the career of Scott Draves as a visual and software artist. He says how and when started in the fabulous and huge world of programming and also explains some of his projects in the easy way.

Enda O’Donoghue · SPECIAL POST

Enda O’Donoghue is an Irish artist who has been living and working in Berlin since 2002. The images in Enda O’Donoghue’s paintings all come from the Internet. They are all other people’s images, digitally found images. Searching through popular online social networks and blogs on an ongoing basis, he compulsively collects and catalogues photographs that he finds. The photos which he works with are most often the throw-away shots which otherwise gather digital dust buried away on hard-drives, camera chips, mobile phones or uploaded and then lost or forgotten someplace on the Web. With each image he paints he is meticulous about tracing the ownership and requesting permission, partly as a way of dealing with the anonymous nature of the Internet and also a reaction to the issues surrounding online privacy and copyright.

The process of painting from these images is slow and methodical, firstly dissecting the image into sections on paper. Echoing and playing with the nature digital image processing and compression algorithms, the painting process is highly analytical and methodical and yet filled with randomness and inviting of errors, misalignments and glitches. Lucas Simões · SPECIAL POST

Lucas Simões is a brazilian artist with a great skill with the collage, I like the way he experiment with his photography. He was born in Catanduva, 1980 and lives and works in São Paulo. Simões graduated in Architecture and Urbanism at PUC and Politecnico di Milano in Italy (2003).

Simões appropriates himself of quotidian photographs and objects to make works through cut-outs, drawings, and using other materials properties with aim to create new interpretations.

His first solo exhibition was for the annual program from the Cultural Center of the Brazil's Central Bank, in 2001. In 2010 he received the Great Award from the "Salão de Pequenos Formatos da Amazônia". See more;

Marcus Olsen · SPECIAL POST

Marcus Olsen, born in 1981, is a U.S. based photographer who lives in Portland, OR. He has always had a passion for art and, ultimately, this led to his discovery of photography. He wanders the streets and industrial wastelands looking for ways to draw attention to subjects that, ordinarily, appear to viewers as uninteresting and boring.

Marcus likes to capture a feeling of solitude in his photographs and focuses most of his attention on man-made structures. His work provides insight into the way humans interact with the environment they inhabit; for example, the inevitable breakdown of the things humankind creates and the ways in which manmade infrastructure dominates society. Ultimately, his images portray a desolate landscape in which the subjects are separate from the human element that created them. See more;

Candle Light 烛光 · SPECIAL POST

Niu Miao y Nicholas Hanna se conocieron mientras trabajaban en la Academia Central de Bellas Artes de Pekín. La idea partió gracias a un proyecto anterior, "Candle Stool", por Niu Miao, que explora la relación inversa entre una bombilla y una vela. Partiendo de ese punto, los artistas desarrollaron una serie de conceptos e ideas de las cuales hicieron los primeros prototipos a escala antes de realizar el proyecto final. Ver más;

Florian Kuhlmann · SPECIAL POST

Florian Kuhlmann nacío en Hanoi (Vietnam) en 1979, pero creció en Heidelberg (Alemania) desde 1982. Ha trabajado como diseñador y programador de 1999 a 2002 en Hannover y Hamburgo para varias compañias de Internet durante el primer boom económico en este sector. Más tarde decidió trasladarse a un mundo más artístico y empezó a estudiar en "The Academy of Media Arts" en Cologne 2002, terminando en 2007, desde entonces Florian combina todo lo aprendido hasta ahora, trabaja como artista, diseñador, organizador de festivales, netactivist y programador. En estos momentos está organizando Vierwändekunst Art-Festival en Düsseldorf. A continuación Kuhlmann nos responde unas preguntas, ver más dentro del post;

Richard Harvey · SPECIAL POST

Richard Harvey, 25 años con sede en Londres acaba de terminar sus estudios de "Interaction Design" en el LCC (London College of Communication), licenciado con anterioridad en Audiologia (audición y trastornos del equilibrio) y ahora va a realizar un MA de Diseño del Producto en el RCA.

Es interesante el camino que está creando en su formación, es una buena mezcla donde poder desarrollar aplicaciones, productos e instalaciones creativas como son los proyectos de Harvey. A continuación nos habla a cerca de sus dos últimos trabajos;

"Homo Modernus" · SPECIAL POST

"Pese a que en un principio este texto fue ideado para ser publicado, es decir, para que se sostuviera por sí mismo, de pronto empezaron a surgir ofertas de dibujantes, actores y diseñadores que se ofrecían a ilustrarlo, a actuarlo o simplemente convertirlo en algo supratextual.

Al contrario que muchos trabajos en los que la palabra contradice lo que se ve, ya sea para confundir al espectador u otorgarle a la pieza ese aura ‘inquietante’ que tan bien queda, nosotros quisimos ayudar al lector a comprender lo que queríamos contar. Nos propusimos que aquél no leyera el texto sino que el propio texto lo leyera a él. En síntesis, Homo Modernus se convirtió en un cuento ilustrado. Un cuento ilustrado para adultos ilustrados".   Ver más;

Fabian Haeusermann · SPECIAL POST

Esta semana me encontré con semejantes ilustraciones en el grupo de Flickr de Triangulation Blog, y no dude en contactar con Fabian Haeusermann, Zurich (Suiza) que ha tenido la amabilidad de comentarnos como realiza sus obras. Sus trabajos son una mezcla de detalles, finas texturas y formas geometricas. Suele trabajar en formatos pequeños, como el de un A4 o más pequeño. Para ello utiliza una pluma de dibujo técnico la cual le permite un trabajo preciso. Es una herramienta genial para la técnica de cross-hatch; le permite sombrear el dibujo hasta que es casi negro, pero manteniendo a la vista las texturas. Creo que esta es la primera noticia en la que no se publica ninguna imagen, el culpable de ello ha sido Óscar Ortega, conocido más bien como l_I__I_l. Diseñador gráfico freelance, lafabricaderocas.com es su web donde muestra su trabajo, pero actualmente está en mantenimiento, eso no es motivo para no ver su trabajo o mejor dicho su hobby que fue lo que me llevo hasta él. Dí con l_I__I_l por medio de twitter, como iba a ser si no, si su twitter podriamos decir que es la galeria donde muestra sus pequeñas obras. Ver uno de sus tweets en mi muro fue como un desahogo entre tanta información, enseguida me metí en su twitter y fue muy impactante ver el perfil de alguien solo con cosas estas. Ver más;

Sander Meisner · SPECIAL POST

Sander Meisner, Amsterdam (1979), es un increíble fotógrafo especializado en la fotografía de medio formato. Realiza largas exposiciones buscando la luz artificial, luz que ilumina esos paisajes urbanos contemporáneos que Sander absorbe con su cámara.
Caminante nocturno, se introduce en la ciudad para buscar la belleza que albergan las esquinas desoladas, creadas e iluminadas por el hombre. Convirtiendo estos sitios que no dicen nada para muchos, en en lugares mágicos.
Debido a la poca iluminación y a la larga exposición de sus disparos hace que el ser humano sea inexistente, por ello se pregunta; ¿Que pasaría con toda esta belleza si la vida humana desapareciera? ¿Cuanto tiempo podrían durar estas infraestructuras sin un mantenimiento regular?. Hoy es un día grande para TRIANGULATION BLOG, y personalmente para mi también, ya que un gran amigo se ha ofrecido a subir algunas de sus increíbles obras al blog. Con él estrenamos sección "Special Post", serán todas aquellas entrevistas u obras en las que el artista o creativo nos muestre opiniones, sensaciones, técnicas... sobre los trabajos publicados.

Pintor, artista y sobretodo motivador de la vida, Luis Sanus (Alcoy 1971) licenciado en Bellas Artes (1990-1995). Finalizó sus estudios académicos en Florencia (1997), donde estudió durante un año a los maestros italianos adquiriendo la beca Leonardo da Vinci. Actualmente está terminando la tesis doctoral en la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Alicante. Ver más;
